The CSA240 device is a current-sense amplifier with enhanced PWM rejection that can sense dropsacross shunt resistors over a wide common-modevoltage range from –6V to 80V, independent of thesupply voltage. The enhanced PWM rejectionfunction suppresses large common-modetransients (ΔV/Δt) in systems that use pulse widthmodulation (PWM) signals, such as motor drivesand solenoid control systems. The negativecommon-mode voltage allows the device tooperate below ground, accommodating theflyback period of typical solenoid applications. The features ensure the accurate currentmeasurements without large transients andassociated recovery ripple on the output voltage. This device operates from a single 2.7V to 5.5Vpower supply, drawing a typ of 1.4mA of supplycurrent. Four fixed gains are available: 20V/V,
50V/V and100V/V. The low offset of the zero-driftarchitecture enables current sensing withmaximum drops across the shunt as low as 10mVfull-scale. All versions are specified over theextended operating temperature range (–40°C to125°C), and are offered in an 8-pin TSSOP, MSOPand 8-pin SOIC packages. See Table 1 for the orderinformation.
